Buddha Shakyamuni is a spiritual teacher, the legendary founder of Buddhism.
Having received the name Siddhattha Gotama / Siddhartha Gautama at birth, he later became known as the Buddha and even the Supreme Buddha. He is also called: Tathagata, Bhagavan, Sugata, Jina, Lokajyestha.
Origin
Buddhism originated in the northeastern part of India, where the ancient states of Magadha, Koshala and Lichchhavi were located, in the middle of the 1st millennium BC. e.
Buddhism originated in ancient India as a shramana tradition sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BC and spread across much of Asia.
It is the fourth largest religion in the world with over 520 million followers.
